This Chuck Norris Quote Was So Awesome It Changed Action Movie Genre Logic Forever
One quote from Chuck Norris in 'Invasion U.S.A.' not only cemented the star’s legendary status in action cinema but also changed action-movie logic forever.

'Invasion U.S.A.'
Chuck Norris has a legacy of one-liners and over-the-top facts that live on despite the action star’s recent passing. If anything, Chuck Norris's legacy continues to grow.
But that wasn’t always the case. Before Chuck Norris was making cameos in Dodgeball and shooting Conan O’Brien for pulling the Walker, Texas Ranger lever one too many times, the former martial artist had to make a name for himself first as an action antagonist against legendary stars like Bruce Lee, then eventually as the leading man in his own string of Cannon Films era action vehicles.
And it was in this '80s and '90s run that the legend of Chuck Norris began to form. It was also where the fundamental bedrock of the action movie genre shifted from lovable underdogs fighting against the corrupt underbellies of the world to a style of cinema where the action star became the ultimate force of awesomeness.
Chuck Norris in 'Invasion U.S.A.'
Outside of Lone Wolf McQuade, which I’d argue is the most iconic Chuck Norris role and also one of the most important "ultimate action movie” genre films of all time, Invasion USA stands tall as one of the best of the Cannon Films-era Chuck Norris actioners. About as roughly conceived, over-the-top, and explosive as they come, Invasion USA sees Chuck Norris single-handedly take on and defeat an entire invading guerrilla army in coastal Florida.
It also pits Chuck Norris against perennial action movie baddie and genre scare-king Richard Spence in a role that helps set up this iconic, genre-shifting game-changer later in the film. What’s important to know is that from the beginning of the film to the climactic ending battle and mano-a-mano fight scene between our two leads, Spence’s Mikhail Rostov character is absolutely terrified of Chuck Norris’ CIA Agent Matt Hunter character.
The film begins with Rostov having a dream sequence of Chuck Norris finding him and murdering him in the night, as he wakes up in cold sweats. The ending of this action film isn’t ambiguous or ever in doubt. Chuck Norris is going to win.
Chuck Norris' Iconic Line
By far one of Chuck Norris’ most famous, iconic, and ultimate action movie lines of his career comes even before his showdown with Spence’s Mikhail Rostov, and it's emblematic of how the action movie genre shifts away from the usual narrative tropes of a hero overcoming obstacles and just becomes 90 minutes of pure, unbridled action movie bliss.
“If you come back in, I’ll hit you with so many rights you’ll be begging for a left”
Chuck Norris getting his man at the end is never truly in doubt, and it’s only built up through the film as a foregone conclusion that will give us great fights, tons of explosives, and iconic one-liners delivered for maximum cheese.
As is the case with many Chuck Norris one-liners, it’s not delivered with any over-the-top-ness; it’s about as straightforward as Norris delivers any performance. But it stands tall as one of his best and serves as a flashpoint for when action movies became the ultimate style of the time.
