We could make a joke about how long we've waited to go back to the world of Euphoria, but honestly, it's just nice to be back. Even if it did take four years, the length of high school in America.

Following years of production delays, script overhauls, and the tragic passing of cast members, HBO has finally pulled back the curtain on the most anticipated return in television.

Here is everything we know about Euphoria Season 3, the five-year time jump, and the bold new direction Sam Levinson is taking the series.

Let's dive in.

Euphoria Season 3 Trailer

The biggest news coming out of the Hollywood Reporter and Deadline reports is the confirmed five-year time jump.

The lockers and hallways are gone, and season 3 picks up with the characters in their early 20s, navigating the "wilder world" of adulthood.

According to creator Sam Levinson, this jump was necessary to explore the characters outside the "context of high school."

The official logline describes the season as follows: "a group of childhood friends who wrestle with the virtue of faith, the possibility of redemption, and the problem of evil."

That's pretty heavy!

Where Are they Now?

There are a lot of characters to cover, so here's what we know about each of the main ones in this season of the show. And where their stories will likely pick up.

  • Rue (Zendaya): Now living in Mexico and struggling to maintain her sobriety while still in significant debt to the drug lord Laurie.
  • Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) & Nate (Jacob Elordi): In a shocking twist, the two are now engaged and living in the suburbs. Levinson has teased an "unforgettable" wedding sequence. She's doing OnlyFans, and he's maybe turning into his father?
  • Jules (Hunter Schafer): Currently in art school, struggling with the pressure of a professional career and reportedly "avoiding responsibility at all costs."
  • Maddy (Alexa Demie): Has moved to Los Angeles and is working at a high-profile talent agency while managing several "side hustles."
  • Lexi (Maude Apatow): Working as an assistant to a high-powered showrunner (played by newcomer Sharon Stone).

The cast for this season will be a little different. There are a lot of newcomers and returning cast, but we'll actually be without Barbie Ferreira (Kat), who will not be returning, and the show will probably have to address the absence of Angus Cloud (Fezco) following his tragic passing in 2023.

Let's rundown who else will be in the show.

Shooting On Film

One of the reasons we've written so much about the show on this site is that it's always visually interesting.

For the cinematographers and tech geeks, Euphoria is shifting its visual language, just as it has with the other seasons.

This time, they're going even bigger.

To mirror the characters' transition into adulthood, the series was shot on a mix of 35mm and 65mm KODAK motion picture film.

This change is intended to give the "adult" world a more expansive, cinematic feel compared to the claustrophobic, grainier look of the high school years.

So I hope you have a TV ready for such an epic conclusion.

When is Euphoria Back?

HBO has officially confirmed that Euphoria Season 3 will premiere on April 12, 2026.

So get ready to step back into that wild world.

The recently released trailer confirms the darker tone, featuring Rue in a church seeking "faith," glimpses of a suburban nightmare for Cassie and Nate, and a high-stakes police chase in Mexico.

As the show takes over the coveted Sunday night HBO slot once again, it'll be interesting to see what it has to say about where culture is now, along with the characters.
