Eddie AI, a company we’ve covered in the past for its assistant editing platform tools, has just introduced a new Agent Marketplace that will include editing agents built on the named rules of great editors, directors, and creators.

Users will also be able to build their own agents that will be able to enforce their rules, such as a brand book or legal checklist, but the big news here to many might simply be the options to work with (again, kind of) some of the biggest names in editing and filmmaking history.

Looking forward to the comments on this one! But, if you’re interested, for whatever reason, here’s what you need to know.

As mentioned above, the big news is that Eddie AI, the AI-powered assistant editor platform with a ton of features, has a new Agent Marketplace that will feature agents modeled on great filmmakers from cinema history.

These agents, it’s important to note, have been tasked with studying the body of work of these filmmakers, not the people themselves, and they are not affiliated with the company in any way. With that caveat aside, if you are interested in working with agents that have been modeled on the works of these greats, the list is set to include the likes of Walter Murch, Thelma Schoonmaker, Roger Deakins, Denis Villeneuve, Ken Burns, Errol Morris, and more than twenty others.

In use, when these agents cut, they make new edits, so they won’t overwrite the one you’re working on. Another interesting angle is that these agents can also function as critics or a second set of eyes, giving feedback on your work.

Create Your Own Agent

The other side of this new Agent Marketplace update for Eddie AI is that users can now build their own agents too. If you’re not looking for Christopher Nolan, but rather just your own team or work to follow rules and brand guidelines that you want to lay down, this should be helpful in that regard.

These agents can be built inside the Eddie web app, where users can give them a name, an emoji, a one-line description of what they do, and instructions that make them. The agents can then be taught skills which work as a one-line “when to use this” plus a body that can be as long as needed—which is where you can upload things like brand guidelines and such.

Another notable case is a brand-compliance agent that can review a cut against the brand book and flag every shot, super, or caption that breaks it before it ever reaches the client. A legal-compliance agent would also be able to check disclosures, claims language, music clearances, and on-screen text against the rules your counsel gave you too, which could be an important check.

We know the world of agentic editing and AI editing agents might be a lot to take in for some editors. But as we’ve seen with Adobe's agentic partnerships in Premiere and others, it’s what the future holds, whether you love it or hate it.

As for Eddie AI’s new Agent Marketplace, this first roll-out will feature 29 agents, which you can find on the company’s website here—where you can also find info on plans and pricing.

If you have more thoughts and want to chat with the team directly, Eddie AI and its CEO and co-founder, Shamir Allibhai, will be at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam, exhibiting at Booth 7.A38 in Hall 7 and Booth 14.B51 in the Future Tech Hall.
