How To Unlock Detachable Video With the Insta360 GO 3
The future of video is now out of our hands, apparently.
Continuing a trend that has been developing over the past year or so, camera technology is pushing the boundaries of what could be considered a camera to tiny new possibilities.
With the new Insta360 GO 3 we not only see another new action cam that is about as light and small as they can make them, but also detachable and designed for the video creator looking to take their camera completely out of their hands.
This new pill-shaped action cam by Insta360 is truly a unique and groundbreaking new filmmaking tool which—when combined with its detachable case with its flip-up screen—promises to unlock all types of new video possibilities.
Let’s take a look at the Insta360 GO 3 and explore how it might be of interest for the right content creators or creative filmmakers looking to find some insane, and entirely new, approaches to videography.
The Insta360 GO 3
An upgrade on Insta360’s popular GO 2 action cam, the GO 3 promises to provide miniature action camera capabilities for everyday applications literally anywhere, anytime. Plus, with a sensor capable of 2.7K (2720 x 1536) video along with audio, photo, and slow-motion recording capabilities, it packs all of the punch any content creator might desire.
The GO 3 also adds voice control technology, a 2.2” flip touch screen, and an image preview on the action pod, the camera’s case where you can preview your video and then export it to your smartphone with the Insta360 iOS/Android app via Wi-Fi.
As with most action cams these days, the Go 3 is quite small and light and is actually designed for creators to wear around their necks when they’re on the run.

A Detachable Camera Setup
Designed most likely for vloggers or travel content creators, the ability to detach the camera is probably its greatest appeal and selling point to get it to stand out from the crowded action cam marketplace. In the video previews and early reviews, it does look quite fun to detach the camera and clip it to your collar, a skateboard, your dog, or really whatever your heart desires.
While you can preview photos and footage from your smartphone, the GO 3’s flip-up screen in its detachable case gives creators the ability to real-time live view their camera in action no matter where it is. Plus, similar to the GO 2, the case also charges the camera’s battery which can now last up to 170 minutes on a single charge.
The only downside to this new version of the Insta360 GO might simply be that it’s increasing in price a bit.
Still, with a slightly higher video resolution with no recording limit, strong voice controls and features, and different storage options—plus this new detachable recording feature—it’s another strong action camera to consider for the right creator types.
