The DJI RS 3 and RS 3 Pro are now out, but what does that mean for the previous generation? Well, they're now part of our Deals of the Week!
The new generation of DJI gimbals has finally been revealed, and they pack a punch. But what if you're trying to save a buck? Well, the previous generation of the RS line features great tools with a robust feature set.
We've grabbed three of our favorites and compared them to the DJI RS 3 and RS 3 Pro. But if you don't need the latest and greatest, these gimbals will get the job done, all while keeping you on budget.
DJI RS 2 Gimbal Stabilizer
The DJI RS 2 is a redesigned follow-up to the Ronin-S gimbal with a payload of up to 10 pounds. It's about 25% lighter and more compact thanks to monocoque carbon fiber axis arms and a shorter grip handle with a smaller battery cartridge. The motors are about 20% more powerful and can support larger cameras.
The successor to the RS 2 is the DJI RS 3 Pro, which has the same weight capacity and a few more bells and whistles. But the RS 3 Pro is also hundreds of dollars more! If you want the same capabilities with fewer features, the DJI RS 2 is a great alternative.
DJI RSC 2 Gimbal Stabilizer
The DJI RSC 2 is designed for mirrorless and DSLR cameras and supports up to a 6.6-pound camera and accessory load. The motors of the RSC 2 are 50% more powerful than those of the Ronin-SC, which is the predecessor of this redesigned gimbal. A key feature of the RSC 2 is a foldable design that allows switching to underslung mode.
This gimbal is succeeded by the DJI RS 3, which also has the same payload capacity. Although the motors aren't as strong, creatives will still get a reliable gimbal for their smaller camera needs. The RSC 2 is almost half the price, too. So do with that info what you will.
DJI Ronin-SC Gimbal Stabilizer
Finally, we get to the cheapest of the bunch. Though the Ronin-SC is smaller, it packs an abundance of features, design enhancements, and technology inside its compact form. The gimbal features stabilization, pan, tilt, and roll control, as well as 360° continuous panning to create steady 3D/360° motion shots. On its own, the gimbal weighs only 2.4 pounds, so it is ultra-portable and makes it easier to hold the gimbal with a mounted camera for longer periods of time.
If you're looking for a super reliable and cheap alternative to the new DJI gimbals, the Ronin-SC is hard to beat.
