The new 4K Bolt Wireless Monitor is 8x faster than previous model.
Teradek announced today that the new Bolt 4K wireless camera broadcast system is now shipping. Originally announced last Spring at NAB, Teradek is confident that it'll blow the doors off any other wireless monitor system, including its own, and do it with a ton of dynamic range, and at zero latency. Or pretty darn close to it.
Teradek says that the Bolt 4Ks patented RF design utilizes the less crowded 5Ghz wifi spectrum, which gives the Bolt 4K up to 8 times faster performance over previous Bolt models, and can support high dynamic range standards including Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG), HDR-10, and PQ. Bolt can also transmit extended camera metadata like start/stop flags, timecodes, and other ancillary data.
The Bolt 4K's wireless range has also been extended by 150%, reaching a line of sight distance of up to 1500 feet utilizing the 5GHz band, and can manage up to 6 receivers at once. The Bolt 4K also uses Teradek's AES-256 encryption and RSA 1024 key pairing, to keep all wireless feeds secure.

Teradek has also released the Bolt app for iOS, which will enable camera operators to adjust all parameters of the Bolt 4K, apply custom 3D LUTs remotely, and analyze the surrounding WiFi spectrum to insure a healthy wireless connection. And should the Bolt 4K loose connection in a tough RF environment, reconnection is promised to be instantaneous, so the camera operator won't have to work to get the signal back.
