VimeoawardsThe first annual Vimeo Festival + Awards is almost here, and it looks like it's going to be a heck of a good time. Taking place this weekend here in New York City (October 8th and 9th), the festival consists of talks, workshops, screenings, community meeting spaces, special events, and a big ol' closing party. Tickets are currently on sale for $120 ($90 for students). Unless, of course, you're a No Film School reader, in which case you have a chance to go to all these events free:

I have a few free passes to give away. ((This should go without saying, but this is only for those of you who are located in New York or otherwise are able to make it NYC this weekend.)) You can enter to win in either of two ways (I will pool the "entrants" and randomly choose among them):

  1. If you're subscribed to the No Film School newsletter -- which you absolutely should be, as it includes a lot of exclusive content not found on this site -- reply to one of my emails with "Vimeo NYC" in either the body or subject of your email.
  2. If you're on Twitter, retweet this post (there's a button on this page). Make sure your tweet includes @ryanbkoo and that you're following me (so we can private message each other in case you win).

Tip: if you want to double your chance of winning a free pass (because I won't be able to corroborate Twitter handles with email addresses), you could do both. ;)

I will let the winners know by Thursday the 7th. Here's some more on the festival, in Vimeo's words:

The Vimeo Festival will bring the global creative community together and give attendees a rare opportunity to see, explore, and meet the people behind the profiles. Over the course of two days, we’re packing in as many talks, workshops, screenings, and special events covering the themes of Innovation and Inspiration. We’ve invited some of the top names in film, art, and tech to inspire you on every level. This event is a must for anyone interested in video, film-making, the web, art, or just having a good time and experiencing new things and great people. You never know, it could just be the greatest experience of your life.

The event will have opening remarks by Dr. Reggie Watts:

Get your passes now, or if you'd like to go for free, retweet this post or email me! Hope to see you there.
