No Film School sent a reporter—our Managing Editor Emily Buder—to Cannes for the first time. She joins me on today's show to bring us an American indie perspective of the celebrated festival, from the scene on La Croisette (the festival's main drag) to the industry market to broad-ranging and much-discussed films like Palm D'Or Winner Ken Loach's I, Daniel Blake and "Palm Dog" Winner, Jim Jarmusch's Paterson. We also discuss some new European Union regulations for digital distributors and Werner Herzog's upcoming online master class. As always, the episode includes our Ask No Film School segment, plus grant and festival deadlines, gear news, upcoming indie film releases, and other notable items you might have missed while you were busy making films.
