Sony Announces 24-105mm f/4 and 400mm f/2.8 Full Frame Lenses
Sony adds to its full-frame lens lineup with FE 24-105mm f/4 G OSS and the development of a 400mm f/2.8 Super-Telephoto lens.

While Sony announced its new a7R III in the early morning hours, they also introduced two new lenses for consumption. The FE 24-105mm f/4 G OSS(model SEL24105G) is a standard zoom covering wide-angle to mid-telephoto range in a compact, lightweight form.

Designed with full-frame E mount in mind, the lens features a precise and quiet autofocus for video and stills, corner-to-corner sharpness throughout the entire zoom range, four aspherical lens elements, two of which are high precision AA (advanced aspherical) lenses, three strategically located ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) glass elements to minimize chromatic aberration and a Nano AR coating to minimize flare and ghosting. Sony is also saying the lens delivers the same quality bokeh as their G series lenses.
The FE 24-105mm f/4 G OSS weighs only about 23.4 oz (663 g), making it very light compared to similar competitors. The 25-105mm focal length does provide a minimum focus distance of 1.25 ft and built-in optical image stabilization reduces shake during handheld work.

The lens also touts Sony's DDSSM (Direct Drive SSM) system that's for fast and quiet focusing, a customizable focus hold button, dust and moisture resistant design, and a fluorine coating on the front element to minimize dust and other contaminants.
The lens will ship this November for about $1,300 US.
