We're less than one week from a sequel over 50 years in-the-making finally heading to theaters, and so now feels like an appropriate time to visualize how it was all put together.

The film in question, Rob Marshall's mega-budget live-action/animation spectacular Mary Poppins Returns, flies into movie houses on Wednesday, December 19th, and early reviews have been quite positive. In the lead role, Emily Blunt has been called "practically perfect in every way" and the lead actress herself has received Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations for her starring turn. Lin-Manuel Miranda, of Broadway musical Hamilton fame, co-stars, as does Julie Walters and Rob Marshall regular (they previously collaborated on Into the Woods) Meryl Streep.

In the below behind-the-scenes video, you get a good sense of the epic scale of the production, with entire towns being built on soundstages and blue and green screens dominating the backdrops of our characters. You see Marshall providing direction to each of his lead actors, paying careful consideration to the youngest children on set, making sure they're as fully prepared as their adult counterparts. And if you've ever wanted to see Streep and Academy Award winner Colin Firth (The King's Speech) methodically prepare for a scene, this video provides that rare opportunity.
