What’s that? There’s new film and video gear being developed that’s not AI? Big if true. And exciting if it’s something that, you know, actually helps filmmakers and content professionals do their jobs better and more efficiently.

A new electronic ND filter kit is on the way that promises to change how pros capture light, and we think that’s pretty neat. Let’s take a look at the BENRO NE1 Electronic ND Filter and explore what it will eventually have to offer for your exposure control options.

The BENRO NE1 Electronic ND Filter

Announced as a soon-to-be-released product that’s still being developed, the BENRO NE1 Electronic ND Filter aims to make you forget everything you thought you knew about exposure and how variable ND filters are supposed to work for your photo and video projects.

The goal is to revolutionize how creators capture light. Some examples, which the company cites as ones in which this ND filter could help with, include chasing golden-hour landscapes, crafting silky slow-motion videos, or nailing that creamy bokeh in bright conditions.

The BENRO NE1 Electronic ND Filter’s goal is to put easy, precise exposure control in the hands of these creators and remove the amount of guesswork and fumbling to try to pick the right ND values. All of this will be handled with this electronic ND filter to help make your photo and video work more adaptive and effortless.

Easy Auto Controls

Powered by a high-precision optical sensor, the NE1 will feature a Bluetooth remote that will be able to auto-adjust ND levels from ND3 to ND64 in real time as a way to balance exposure as light shifts. Users will then be able to switch to an Auto/Manual Mode with a single tap on the filter or remote, and dial in stops with hard-stop accuracy.

This could be an ideal workflow for those looking to work fast and without a lot of guesswork and over-rotation. The NE1 will also come with a Bluetooth Controller that will further give shooters complete wireless command.

Overall, the NE1 will be compatible with lenses from 67mm to 82mm and should be a nice option to cover your entire gear lineup.
