On the same day that Blackmagic Design announced that its DaVinci Resolve 21 update is finally ready to go live to the masses, the company also has a pretty notable update set to beef up the autofocus capabilities of the PYXIS 6K cinema camera.
Already a quite solid cinema camera option that packs a punch for those on a budget, the PYXIS 6K is getting updated phase-detect autofocus support, as well as a pretty thorough overhaul of its AF capabilities overall.

Blackmagic Camera 10.2 Update
All of this has been announced as part of the latest Blackmagic Camera 10.2 update, but it’s really just an update for the PYXIS 6K, as that’s the only camera set to get anything new here. The Blackmagic PYXIS 6K is set to get updated phase-detection autofocus (PDAF), continuous autofocus, face-detection autofocus, object-detection autofocus, and support for managing AF transition speeds and other settings.
All to say, this is an autofocus-focused update for the PYXIS 6K that’s certainly worth checking out if you’re a PYXIS 6K owner or someone interested in using the camera here soon.
