While the Sundance Film Festival gets ready to make its move out of Park City to Boulder, Colorado, the modern film festival circuit and the film industry as we know it are undergoing a transition of their own.

The art of filmmaking has evolved quite a bit over the past few decades, and with the rise of new technologies and different ways in which audiences consume film and media alike, the cinematic landscape might just be ready for new film festivals to help redefine this new space.

Set to take place April 26th-27th at the Paramount Theatre in Austin, Texas, the CAMP Film Festival Powered by Patreon aims to redefine the cinematic landscape. Let’s take a look at this new, groundbreaking event and how it aims to celebrate a new wave of internet-born storytellers.

A New Film Festival Emerges

The CAMP Film Festival is looking to take a fresh approach to help bridge the gap between digital creators and theatrical audiences.

“We started the CAMP Film Festival because we saw an incredible wave of storytellers and artists emerging on the internet. Yet, there were no spaces to convene and celebrate their work. We wanted to create a movement that brings these creators together, elevates their voices, and gives them the recognition they deserve—redefining cinema by bringing their powerful narratives to the big screen.” — CAMP Film Festival Co-Founders Chris Duncun, Max Reisinger, and Simon Kim.

The festival is set to curate compelling, authentic narratives from a new era of creators who have already amassed millions of followers and views online. The goal is to prove that powerful storytelling doesn’t require blockbuster budgets.

With the promotional tagline of a “next-generation Sundance,” the CAMP Film Festival is setting its sights on revitalizing the moviegoing experience for Gen Z and millennials while establishing a new platform for emerging voices in film.

The CAMP Film Festival will feature 10 film premieres, 10+ workshops, musical performances, and guest speakers like Gustavo O, Kane Pixels, and Natalie Lynn, who will share how they’ve been able to bridge the gap between the internet and Hollywood.

Following the in-person screenings, select films will be distributed through Patreon, which will give fans exclusive access to digital premieres and watch parties with the directors before a broader theatrical rollout.
