The team over at Musicbed is inviting filmmakers to create impactful short films that uplift communities and display passion for culture and community.

Instead of doing its annual Musicbed Challenge, the team is launching the Reopen Challenge "in hopes of producing content that can help the world reopen—economically and culturally." The challenge is beginning in the middle of a pandemic and a civil rights movement, and Musicbed encourages you to help share the diverse stories of this period.

Musicbed asks that you make videos that inspire and uplift your community. Consider:

  • Spotlighting a local business
  • Shedding light on an injustice
  • Highlighting a leader in your community
  • Telling a story that inspires hope

The grand prize winners will get $25,000, $15,000, or $10,000. There will also be 50 winners chosen by audience votes. These winners will receive $1,000 each.

Submissions are being accepted via YouTube and the Musicbed site. The videos should be between 30 seconds and five minutes long. Filmmakers can use music from a provided "Reopen Challenge Playlist" for free.

Visit the contest website to sign up and download the starter kit with more information.

The deadline to submit is July 15th, so get creative!

Winners will be announced Aug. 4.
