While NAB 2026 is now in full swing, not everything is fully illuminated under the bright lights in the Las Vegas Convention Center halls. Nikon has released a video teaser indicating that a new, mysterious AF NIKKOR Z cinema lens is on the way.

What could it be? It’s hard to say, as this one is actually a bit more mysterious than these teasers usually are. Here’s what we do know so far.

NIKKOR Z Cinema Lens Teaser

Released with a teaser video that only really offers the cryptic message that “a new NIKKOR chapter begins,” we really don’t have a lot of info to go off of here. The video is only 24 seconds long, and we just get silhouette and backlit shots of what is presumably the new lens in question.

We know it’s an AF NIKKOR Z cinema lens, and that’s about it. There—oddly perhaps—isn’t a lot of consensus online about what it could be either. Usually, these teasers are leaked, or fans of the brand can suss out what it’s going to be and often share their best guesses in the comments.

What this new NIKKOR Z cinema lens ends up being might be truly a mystery.
