Sigma Joins Growing List of Companies Raising Prices Over Tariffs
A statement from Sigma announces that costs at Sigma “have increased substantially” due to tariffs.

In what will most likely be a heavy refrain over the next several months (and perhaps years—if not decades), another major brand has announced price increases due to Trump's tariffs. Sigma is set to join the ranks of Blackmagic Design, DJI, Sony, and certainly, countless more major camera, film, and video gear companies that are being hit by government-imposed tariffs in the United States.
In a letter to Sigma customers, the president of Sigma America outlines why these price increases are happening and shares more details about when these new pricing points are set to take effect. Here’s what we have to share so far as well as a quick look into what we expect to happen next with this ongoing story.
Sigma to Raise Prices Due to Tariffs
In a letter to Sigma Customers, Sigma America President Mark Amir-Hamzeh shares the news that there are going to be substantial price adjustments to the company’s products effective on June 2nd, 2025.
To his credit, Amir-Hamzeh is direct about the reasons, citing “the recent implementation of government-imposed tariffs,” which have caused the costs at Sigma to have "increased substantially.” To absorb these added expenses Sigma is planning to implement new pricing.
Here’s the full letter from Amir-Hamzeh:
Dear Sigma customers,
Thank you for your continued support and trust in Sigma. We are are sorry to inform you of an upcoming pricing adjustment to our products, effective June 2, 2025.
Due to the recent implementation of government-imposed tariffs, our costs at Sigma America have increased substantially. We have made every effort to absorb these added expenses, but the sustained impact of the tariffs now necessitates a price increase to ensure we can continue delivering the quality and service you expect.
Key details:
Current pricing will remain in effect for all orders placed and fulfilled by May 31, 2025, subject to product availability.
New pricing will take effect on June 2, 2025, and will apply to all new orders and any unfulfilled items.
We understand this is difficult news to hear, and please know this decision was not made lightly. We have always prided ourselves on delivering unmatched value to our customers, and we are doing everything we can to continue to do that while providing the same service and product excellence.
We sincerely appreciate your understanding and continued partnership.
Sincerely,
Mark Amir-Hamzeh
President | Sigma America
What’s Next With Tariffs and Pricing
This news obviously isn’t very surprising. Sigma didn’t share any additional details about exactly what these price increases are going to be for their different cameras, lenses, and products, but we’d expect to get more exact details in the coming weeks leading up to the June 2nd implementation day.
We’d expect to get more similar news from pretty much all of the major camera and gear manufacturers in the film and video space over the coming weeks and months and will do our best to keep you up-to-date as to what prices might change and when.
