Thinking About a Pro Camera Upgrade? The PYXIS 6K Is Now 30% Off
A look at the Blackmagic PYXIS 6K, which is currently on sale with a 30% discount, with these special holiday price options.

It’s the season of savings, baby! For an industry that has certainly felt the effect of tariffs and trade wars, seeing prices decrease for once is a nice reminder that things do (occasionally) go down, not just up. If you’ve been patiently sitting on the fence because of these price increases, now might be a good time to jump in and grab while the getting is good.
Along with several other Black Friday and Cyber Monday roundups on the way, here’s a great deal that Blackmagic Design has just announced for the company’s popular URSA 6K cinema camera—a potential great option for anyone looking to upgrade to an advanced digital film camera with a versatile design and range.
Let’s take a look at the Blackmagic PYXIS 6K and what it offers for this discounted price point.
The Blackmagic PYXIS 6K
Announced as a kick-off to NAB 2024, here’s our original write-up on the Blackmagic PYXIS 6K. Its box-style design has really proven to be a nice, versatile option for filmmakers looking for an easy entry into pro-level cinematography.
The PYXIS’s full-frame 6K sensor captures rich colors, accurate skin tones, and a wide 13-stop dynamic range with its expanded 36 x 24mm sensor. It’s been able to record both Blackmagic RAW and H.265 proxy files to the cloud, or users have also been able to stream directly to their social media platform of choice via Ethernet or mobile 4G/5G technology.
For its highest-end specs, the PYXIS can film up to 6K Open Gate 3:2 video at 36 fps or 6K Anamorphic 6:5 video at 60 fps, among other selectable resolutions, which round out its versatile use options.
Price and Availability
At launch, the PYXIS 6K was offered at around a $3k price point, which was more than fair for a box-style cinema camera of its capabilities. However, this new discount is really putting it into a new market, as it should rival many of the more popular mirrorless cameras in a similar range.
