Cinema lenses always seem to come in pairs. You're either getting characters or speed, and SIGMA glass is no exception.
The full-frame SIGMA High Speed 65mm T1.5 joins the 65mm T2.5 Classic to expand the presence of Sigma in the movie production space.
“This is a prime lens that incorporates an optical system specially designed for cinema lenses to meet the stringent demands of this audience,” says SIGMA Corporation CEO Kazuto Yamaki. “As one of the few options compatible with the latest digital cinema cameras with large image sensors, it further expands the possibilities of movie production in the digital age.”

It's All About Speed
The lenses offer a 9-bladed lens aperture with a rounded diaphragm for smooth bokeh and a close focusing range of 2.2 feet (.65m). The lenses will have an image circle of 43.3mm, giving them the option to support larger format digital cinema cameras.

The lenses will also offer a magnification ratio of 1:7.9. The lens has a front diameter of 95mm and a filter size of M86 x 1.0. The effective angle of view will be 31° at full frame, 21.4° when shooting in Super 35, and 20.7° in APS-C.
The addition of the 65mm T1.5 and T2.5 Classic full-frame cine primes will make SIGMA’s footprint in cinema capture a total of eleven full-frame lenses with focal lengths ranging from 14mm to 135mm.

The 65mm T1.5 will support a PL mount with Cooke /i Technology, but will also be available with Canon EF mount and Sony E-Mount options.
The 65mm T2.5 will only support PL Mounts with the Cooke /i metadata transfer. It doesn’t look like EF or E-mount options will be available for the slower model, but that could change over time.
SIGMA also states that the T2.5 lens will not qualify for their mount conversion service since they are part of the full-frame Classic Prime Line.

As of this publication, the launch window for these lenses is slated for January 2023. They will cost the same as other lenses in the catalog do, ranging between $3,500 and $5,000.
