In a step forward to protect the authenticity of content from filmmakers, creators, and journalists, Sony Electronics has announced that Camera Verify, a feature of its Camera Authenticity Solution that allows news organizations to share content authenticity information via a dedicated URL, now supports video.
The company also announced that its Image Verification Pre-Check Software Development Kit (SDK) can now be further integrated into news organizations' own systems, which will also support video.

Sony’s Camera Authenticity Solution for Video
So, while this news is mostly focused on news organizations and their collective ability to verify that the footage they’re using was shot and recorded by the cameras that claim to be recording, this is big news for authenticity overall in the age of AI.
Sony’s Camera Authenticity Solution already supported still images, but this expansion of services into video content authenticity verification and dissemination is a nice step forward, as it helps news organizations more efficiently deliver information with verified provenance and authenticity through the Camera Verify tool.

Here’s How it Works
- Verification that still images and videos were captured by a camera, using digital signatures including C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity) standard compliance
- Display of video or image capture time and authenticity verification results
- Verification that a real-world subject was photographed, using 3D depth detection
Sony has also announced that its Image Verification Pre-Check SDK will further allow news organizations to verify image and video content by checking for an included camera signature, without changing existing workflows.

Compatible Sony Cameras
Sony has also announced which cameras will support recording authenticity information for video. The cameras will include:
- Interchangeable-Lens Cameras: Alpha 1 II, Alpha 1, Alpha 9 III, Alpha 7R V, Alpha 7S III, Alpha 7 IV
- Alpha 7 V: Support planned from May 2026 or later
- Cinema Line Cameras: FX3, FX30
- XDCAM Memory Camcorder: PXW-Z300
