With the 91st Academy Awards ceremony just two-and-a-half months away (taking place on Sunday, February 24th, 2019 from the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California), you'd be forgiven for wondering who this year's host might be.

After comedian Jimmy Kimmel hosted consecutive ceremonies in 2017 and 2018, speculation had begun as to who would be anointed the MC at next year's "biggest night of the year for movies." Now that answer can be revealed.

As announced on his official Instagram account, comedian and actor Kevin Hart will be hosting next year's ceremony. After last year's Oscar broadcast reached a record-low in television viewers, it makes sense for the Academy to select a movie star to host the big event, the last big "star" being the hilarious Chris Rock in 2016. Hart is funny and bombastic, and rumors of him hosting have been circulating for the past few years now.
