On the same day as the Insta360-backed Antigravity A1 is officially launched to the skies, DJI fires back hard with a new drone of its own. The battle for aerial cinematography supremacy is heating up! Oh, wait, not so fast.

The new DJI drone is the FlyCart 100, a next-generation delivery drone that can carry up to 100kg with a longer flight distance and improved power efficiency. Exciting, sure, for enterprise, but not for video-centric consumers.

In all seriousness, DJI has been producing a range of enterprise-level drones for quite some time now, so this is nothing new. However, if you’re a fan of drone technology and the going-ons of DJI, it’s worth checking out as well as it’s actually a pretty impressive new offering—just not what many aerial cinematographers are going to be interested in.

Built as a follow-up to the FlyCart 30, DJI’s previous delivery drone that has proven to be quite capable, as it notably was able to deliver packages on Mount Everest, the new DJI FlyCart 100 is a next-gen delivery drone that is set to offer a higher payload capacity of up to 100 kg, faster charging, and an intelligent safety system with LiDAR.

“DJI continues to innovate to meet industry needs. Even in the early days of aerial delivery, our advanced civilian drone technology has become the trusted solution globally for emergency response, construction, and supply chain logistics – from transporting air tanks and trash on Mount Everest to delivering emergency supplies after the devastating floods. With the next-generation DJI FC100, we built a drone that can deliver more – in payload capacity, endurance, and safety - and support more applications across more industries.” — Hao Jin, the Head of DJI Delivery Sales at DJI.

The drone will also feature a parachute and multi-sensor obstacle avoidance, plus a new DJI Delivery App and the DJI DeliveryHub to help with improved flight operations and management.

Impressive Drone Specs

Still, while this isn’t a drone for most of us in the film and video space to use for any reason, it does sound like DJI is still killing it in terms of what these drones are capable of these days. Notably, this FlyCart 100 features some quite impressive payload capacity specs as it can operate in the most challenging environments, climbing mountains and over rivers, lakes, and bays.

Expanding on its predecessor’s coaxial four-axis, eight-blade, multi-rotor configuration, the FlyCart 100 features an optimized wing design, 62-inch carbon fiber propellers, and larger motors with more torque.

DJI shares that, with these improvements, the drone will be able to carry up to 65 kg payloads for 12 km with the dual-battery configuration, and—in emergency single-battery situations— it can now carry up to 80 kg for 6 km.

As with most enterprise-level drones from DJI, the pricing and availability will be handled by authorized DJI Delivery dealers. If you’d like to learn more, you can check out additional details on DJI’s website here.
