While still not a major option for filmmakers or aerial videographers, it’s always interesting to keep tabs on what DJI is up to with all of its top drone products. With rumors of a potential DJI drone ban still swirling, it’s also always nice to see the Chinese company coming out with new products and updates, even if they aren’t directly in our wheelhouse right now.
The latest news from DJI is a new firmware update for the company’s flagship enterprise Matrice 400 drone. This new update is set to add Zenmuse L3 support and some other helpful features. Here’s what you need to know.
DJI Matrice 400 Firmware Update
With the latest firmware update (version 16.00.00.05), the DJI Matrice 400 is set to add support for Zenmuse L3 LiDAR technology, which should bring lots of new functionality to the enterprise drone now and in the future.
The update requires to be used with a dedicated L3 mounting bracket, but it also means that the Matrice 400 could become even more powerful for all types of enterprise and industrial needs like survey, mapping, and other public safety and inspection work.
There are also some new features to make flight operations safer with including new side-by-side viewing options, including Visible Light + FPV and Point Cloud + FPV, which should be nice options even for the most seasoned of professional operators.
