Fresh off a firmware update that was released the other week, which saw the DJI Osmo 360 get a boost with support for 9:16 aspect ratio video recording (along with a nice Valentine’s Day price discount), DJI is back with another tweak for the popular 360-degree action camera.
This new update (v01.03.08.70) is set to add a cool new Panoramic Video mode that should be quite appealing to creative filmmakers and DIY creators looking for some unique ways to capture different adventurous shots.
Some additional tweaks focus on how the DJI Osmo 360 performs in cold weather and capturing bright, snow-filled environments. Here’s what you need to know.
DJI Osmo 360 Latest Firmware Update
So, what’s cool about this firmware update is chiefly the new Adaptive Tone option, a new processing feature found when shooting in the action camera’s Panoramic Video mode—one of the more fun video modes which the Osmo 360 offers.
This new Adaptive Tone mode allows the action camera to boost its contrast and the depth in the footage it records, which should help shooters capture video that is more cinematic and dynamic.
The other big update news here is that DJI has announced that this latest firmware update is also giving a boost to how the Osmo 360 renders colors in bright, snowy landscapes. Ideally designed for ski and snowboard content, sunny snow-covered mountains have always been tricky as the white snow creates quite a bit of brightness, and this update aims to help bring more contrast and less washed-out-ness to these shots.
