Leica Unleashes Mass Wave of Firmware Updates for All of its Cameras
To meet EU regulations, Leica has announced mass firmware updates across its entire lineup of camera models—find out more info here.

Leica Firmware Updates
To comply with new EU regulations (specifically the requirements of Lot6/Lot26, Regulation (EU) 2023/826), which just came into effect last week, Leica is rolling out firmware updates for pretty much their entire inventory of cameras.
If you’re an owner, renter, or someone with a friend who lets you borrow a Leica camera, you might want to make sure that you’re up and running with the least firmware updates. The updates aren’t all just procedural either, as many cameras are getting some of the usual bug fixes and improvements as well.
Let’s explore a bit more about these Leica camera firmware updates and how you can download and install them on your cameras.
Leica Firmware Updates
The focus of these firmware updates and this new EU legislation has to do with reducing energy consumption with electronic devices when they’re turned off, on standby, or in other networked standby modes. Basically, this all just means that your Leica cameras will not draw power when not in use, which should help them save a bit of power.
Leica is rolling out this mass firmware update for all of its current camera models, including popular cameras like the Leica Q3, the M11, the SL2, and the D-Lux 8 (to name a few).
If you’re curious to get started with this firmware update, or if you want to check if any other cameras are on the list, you can review the full list of firmware updates for Leica cameras on the company’s website here
