PROTON PRO
With NAB just about a week away, brand announcements are starting to roll in.
Set to debut for the first time at the conference in Las Vegas next week, Proton has announced that it is expanding its minicam portfolio with the new PROTON Pro, a new miniature broadcast camera that aims to combine a larger global shutter sensor with the mix of pro connectivity features that broadcast operators are looking for straight out of the box.
Let’s take a look at what we know about the PROTON PRO so far, and what to know before you possibly check it out at NAB 2026 next week.
PROTON PRO Miniature Broadcast Camera
Set to measure in at 30mm x 30mm x 49mm and weigh just 79g, the PROTON PRO will feature a ready-to-deploy form factor that should make it a nice, compact option for those looking for broadcast-grade features.
The camera is built around a 2/3-inch global shutter sensor, which should give it a nice advantage for those looking to capture high-intensity sports, thanks to its ability to read the entire image simultaneously, which means it will be able to avoid the skew that can sometimes be present in high-speed whip-pan shots when a rolling shutter is used.
“The PROTON PRO rounds out our camera range, and with its larger global shutter sensor, it will prove indispensable in fast action productions. As with all of our cameras, the goal remains the same: to give creators the tools to capture shots that were previously impossible”. — Marko Hoepken, CEO of Proton Camera Innovations.
Overall, the camera is designed with a technical foundation that should deliver exceptional image quality in environments where speed and precision are the most important factors, helping operators ensure that every frame remains crisp and true to life.
