Well, this is a unique new camera worth checking out—especially if you’re in Europe and already set, or open to, wandering the halls of IBC 2026 in Amsterdam. Proton Camera Innovations GmbH has announced that it is launching FLEXY, a next-generation micro POV camera that aims to take the company’s flexible architecture to a new level of sophistication.
We don’t know a lot about this FLEXY just yet, but it looks to introduce serialized connectivity via a standard 50 Ohm coax cable, which should enable camera head extensions of up to 10 meters and deliver a new level of deployment flexibility, which should be quite appealing for those looking to get more usability out of their mini broadcast cameras.

Proton Unveils This Unique New Micro POV FLEXY Camera at IBC 2026We really only have one photo to go on so far, so it’s hard to describe it exactly, but as a follow-up to the Proton Flex, it looks like it should be quite similar. (The photo is fun too as it shows the FLEXY camera as part of an Octopus camera system, which we assume to be 100% realistic and not AI.)

What’s unique about this FLEXY camera is that it’s set to be built around a two-part architecture that aims to separate the imaging head from the processing unit, but with a critical evolution from the previous Flex model, which is that the connection between head and ECU will now be a single 50 Ohm coax cable terminated with standard SMA connectors.
This new serialized design should ultimately allow cable runs of up to 10 meters,, giving production teams more freedom to place the tiny camera head in locations while the processor (and its associated power supply and connectivity) remains safely accessible.
Price and Availability

We don’t have full specs or pricing for this thing yet, but it sounds like the camera head will be available in two form factors with an IP67-rated lipstick head set to measure just 19mm in diameter and 34mm in length (including SMA connector), while a square head option will measure 19x19x24mm with an integrated micro coax cable.
Both versions will house a 1/3-inch global shutter sensor with 12-bit dynamic range, deliver 1080p imagery through Proton's VEGA broadcast-grade image processor, and draw just 3W across a 6.5-25V range, helping maintain the company’s commitment to low-power, low-heat integration.
