Tamron has just announced the development of not one, not two, but four new lenses: the third model in its f/2.8 high-speed zoom series, as well as three close-focusing primes with a 1:2 magnification ratio.

70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VXD Zoom Lens

This new zoom lens brings Tamron’s total of F/2.8 zoom lenses for full-frame mirrorless cameras to three. According to the press release, Tamron's main objective for in creating this lens was to “[make] high-speed zoom lenses user-friendly.” It was crafted with full-frame mirrorless shooters in mind, so it's lightweight and compact, while also offering an optical design with several specialized glass elements for superb imaging performance. 


It features the same 67mm filter diameter as all other Tamron lenses in the series, a short 33.5" MOD (Minimum Object Distance), and the newly developed VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism that provides quiet and quick autofocus, not to mention Fast Hybrid AF and Eye AF compatibility.

F/2.8 Di III OSD M1:2 Prime Lens Set

Tamron is rolling out three new prime lenses, a 20mm, 24mm, and 35mm. They all have some great features, including a lightweight, compact design, 67mm filter size, LD (Low Dispersion) and GM (Glass-Molded) aspherical lens elements, a silent OSD (Optimized Silent Drive) motor for the AF drive system, as well as Fast Hybrid AF and Eye AF support. 

However, the most exciting feature of all three lenses is the enhanced close-focusing capability. The 20mm, 24mm, and 35mm boast a 4.3", 4.7", and 5.9" MOD, as well as a 1:2 magnification ratio.
