Top 10 Keanu Reeves Movies
The actor's diverse career has given us some all-time classics.

'Speed'
How do you rank the movies of Keanu Reeves? The guy has been working for three decades and has done so many fun movies. When I see him in a trailer, I automatically know I'm going to see that movie, because he has great taste.
Today, I want to go over ten of my favorite Keanu Reeves movies and talk about what makes them so special and what makes him a star.
Let's dive in.
1. Speed
Unequivocally one of the best movies ever made, it's a high-octane thriller that never lets up. Speed stars Reeves as LAPD officer Jack Traven, who must prevent a bus from exploding by keeping its speed above 50 miles per hour.
This movie delivers on the concept and cemented Reeves as a guy who could carry a movie with his looks and charisma.
There's also palpable chemistry between Reeves and co-star Sandra Bullock.
2. The Matrix
Another one of the greatest movies ever made, Reeves plays Neo with intelligence and vulnerability. The science fiction film redefined the action genre and cemented Keanu Reeves as a global superstar.
The Matrix was lauded for its innovative visual effects, mind-bending narrative, and philosophical themes, earning four Academy Awards.
3. John Wick
Okay, Reeves does not miss, and neither does John Wick. I'm giving a shoutout to the entire franchise here, which could probably be at number one on this list.
Reeves introduced audiences to the stylish and lethal world of a retired hitman forced back into the criminal underworld. His intense and physically demanding performance as the titular character was a major comeback, praised for its expertly choreographed action and stoic badassery.
4. Point Break
This was one of those movies that used to be on TBS, and I'd watch it all the time. Reeves plays Johnny Utah, a young FBI agent who goes undercover to infiltrate a gang of surfing bank robbers led by the charismatic Bodhi (Patrick Swayze).
It just freaking slaps front to back.
Directed by Kathryn Bigelow, Point Break is a stylish and thrilling action film that has developed a dedicated following over the years.
5. Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure
I rented this from the library when I was a kid, and it blew my mind. Reeves stars as the lovable doofus Ted "Theodore" Logan in this time-traveling adventure.
Alongside Alex Winter as Bill S. Preston, Esq., the duo journeys through history to pass their high school history report.
The film's charm and goofy humor have made it a beloved classic.
6. My Own Private Idaho
Look, on anyone else's list, this would be number one. Reeves's performance here is Oscar worthy. He delivers a nuanced and dramatic performance as Scott Favor, a rebellious young man from a wealthy family who befriends a narcoleptic street hustler (River Phoenix).
The film is a poignant and visually stunning exploration of friendship, identity, and unrequited love. It's really wonderful.
7. The Devil's Advocate
This movie is kind of cheesy in all the right ways. And Reeves holds his own against the legendary Al Pacino in this supernatural thriller. He plays Kevin Lomax, a hotshot young lawyer who is recruited by a powerful New York City law firm, only to discover that its charismatic head (Pacino) is the devil himself.
The film is a gripping and atmospheric tale of temptation and morality.
8. A Scanner Darkly
Just a pleasure to watch as an artist, this rotoscoped piece is so creative and felt as futuristic as the plot.
Based on the Philip K. Dick novel, Reeves as an undercover narcotics agent in a near-future society who becomes a victim of the very drug he is investigating. The film's unique visual style and thought-provoking themes have earned it a cult following by me and a bunch of other nerds.
9. Constantine
This feels like a movie that gained a lot of popularity as people saw it at home, and it's going to earn it a sequel soon.
Reeves steps into the world of comic book adaptations as John Constantine, a cynical demonologist with the ability to perceive angels and demons. Its dark, stylish visuals and Reeves' compelling portrayal of the titular anti-hero have allowed it to live on.
10. Something's Gotta Give
I knew I had to get a romantic comedy on this list, because Reeves is so good in them. Written and directed by Nancy Meyers, Reeves plays Dr. Julian Mercer, a handsome doctor who falls for a playwright (Diane Keaton), becoming the romantic rival to an aging music executive (Jack Nicholson).
Reeves proves his capability as a compelling romantic lead in a film celebrated for its sharp script and mature take on love.
Summing It All Up
There are very few actors out there with the versatility of Keanu Reeves. It feels like every ten years or so, he completely reinvents himself, and I'm excited for what's to come.
These are my favorite films, I'm sure you have yours.
