You can watch Keith Maitland's SXSW Grand Jury-Winning 'TOWER' now thanks to PBS Independent Lens.
"Suddenly clouds part, black and white turns to color, and this woman isn't dying; she's back in the best part of her life." That's how NFS writer Scout Tafoya described one of the most arresting scenes from Keith Maitland's film about the 1966 mass shooting on University of Texas Austin's campus that left 16 dead.
We weren't the only ones taken by this unusually gripping documentary. TOWER was recognized as Grand Jury Winner among last year's SXSW documentaries. Later in the year, the film was awarded a Cinema Eye Honor for Outstanding Achievement in Graphic Design or Animation for its innovative use of rotoscopic animation to transport eyewitnesses who are interviewed in present day back to the form they were in in 1966.
Now, you can watch the powerful documentary and see what all the buzz is about for yourself, thanks to PBS Independent Lens, which will be streaming the entire film online free until March 1.
