Well, the secret is out. After making a surprise debut at CES, the Dreame Leaptic Cube has been officially revealed. We wrote about what we thought it might be before, but now we can share details as they have been officially released.

A new company on the scene, Dreame, has introduced its Leaptic Cube, a tiny, compact, and modular action camera that features 8K video support and a unique design that allows users to access a detachable display.

This is some of the biggest news in the action camera space in a little while, so let’s take a look at this new Leaptic Cube and see how it might take on the likes of DJI, Insta360, and GoPro.

A New Action Camera Emerges

With a name scheme that sounds like it comes from Arc Raiders, the Leaptic Cube looks to be quite innovative and fun to try out. It, at the very least, brings some more competition and innovation to the action camera space that has been moving more into the 360-degree video field rather than the 8K video realm.

Featuring a 1/1.3-inch 50MP sensor that is set to be capable of recording 8K video footage, the Leaptic Cube promises to help content creators (or even creative filmmakers) see the world in a lifelike clarity. The Dreame Leaptic Cube combines its sensor with a bright f/2.8 lens and a powerful 4nm AI chip to unlock its 8K visuals.

The action camera is set to offer up to 13.5 stops of dynamic range and feature true-to-life colors, even at 2x zoom, it says. The goal is to be able to provide some of the deepest shadows and most dazzling highlights in the action camera space while still keeping every frame perfectly sharp.

Versatile, Powerful, and Functional

Honestly, this Leaptic Cube has a lot of selling points going for it. The modular design makes it quite lightweight, and it features magnetic body clips, sticks, and mount options to take it on all kinds of adventures.

The Leaptic Cube also features some pretty stout battery life numbers as it can offer 90 minutes of standalone battery capacity, 200 minutes of expansion dock battery capacity, and more than 200 minutes with the company’s “secret modules”—whatever those might be.

As is the case with most new cameras these days, particularly the prosumer ones, the Leaptic Cube promises great AI powers and features for smart subject tracking and even an AI voice companion help.
