Sigma Announces Development of New AF Cine Line With Full-Frame Autofocus Cine Zooms
Sigma unveils new 28-45mm T2 FF and the Sigma 28-105mm T3 FF as first additions to the company’s new AF Cine Line.

Sigma AF Cine Line
Along with the announcement of a new line of large-format cinema lenses with the Aizu Prime Line (the world’s first cinema lens line to feature T1.3 across all focal lengths), Sigma has also unveiled a new Sigma AF Cine Line as part of the company’s Cine Lens series.
This new Sigma AF Cine Line will kick things off with two new zoom lenses, the Sigma 28-45mm T2 FF and the Sigma 28-105mm T3 FF, from the lineup. As the first AF-compatible Cine Lens series from the company, this Sigma AF Cine Line should bring some nice innovation and versatility to the film production scene.
Let’s look at these new Sigma 28-45mm T2 FF and the Sigma 28-105mm T3 FF and what the Sigma AF Cine Line will be able to offer for filmmaking and video professionals.
Sigma AF Cine Line
Set to build on the optical system of Sigma's Art lenses, this new AF Cine Line will offer exceptional rendering performance, high-precision autofocus with excellent tracking capability, and feature the ergonomics required for professional cinema production.
These lenses will be able to handle multiple shooting styles and tricky on-set environments that were previously too challenging to capture or work with traditional still lenses or cine lenses. Sigma shares that this new AF Cine Line is designed to feature the best of Sigma's latest technology further expanding the possibilities of visual expression and bringing new possibilities to future film production.

Looking specifically at the two new zoom lenses announced to kick off this Sigma AF Cine Line, the optical systems of the Sigma 28-45mm T2 FF and Sigma 28-105mm T3 FF should both further incorporate the designs of their comparably highly acclaimed still lenses: the Sigma 28-45mm F1.8 DG DN | Art and the Sigma 28-105mm F2.8 DG DN | Art.
These new AF Cine Line lenses should further combine the best of Sigma’s lens design expertise and utilize the latest tech and advanced manufacturing techniques that the company has developed in their home factory in Aizu, Japan.
Overall, these lenses should deliver exceptional resolution and beautiful bokeh regardless of focal length or focus position, along with a sharp, clean look with minimal flare and ghosting.
Professional-Grade Design and New AF System

Inheriting the aforementioned rendering performance and reliability of Sigma's Art lenses, the AF Cine Line integrates cinema-style mechanics and operability, optimized for professional cinema production. The lenses will feature a limited-rotation focus ring, industry-standard 0.8M pitch gears, and a clickless aperture ring to meet industry demands.
These new Sigma AF Cine Line lenses will also be equipped with a linear motor HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) that will help the lenses capture intense movements in action scenes, rapid focus shifts in gimbal or handheld shooting, and unpredictable moments in documentaries without missing a split second, providing reliable support for filmmakers in various shooting situations.
Price and Availability
Just announced by Sigma, we don’t have any pricing to share for either of these new AF Cine Line lenses just yet. But Sigma has shared that the 28-45mm T2 FF lens should be available later this fall and the 28-105mm T3 FF will be available next spring with more info expected for both soon.
