Our Oscar 2025 Best Picture Winner Prediction
We have an idea of who's taking home the gold statue.
Feb 14, 2025
The Academy Awards are film's highest honor, and every year, I have so much fun watching all the movies nominated for Best Picture.
This year, there were so many wonderful films. From Wicked to Anora to Conclave, I saw many of them in theaters multiple times.
The 97th Academy Awards ceremony will take place on March 2, 2025, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, and will be hosted by Conan O'Brien.
But who will win it all?
We have a prediction.
The Brutalist Will Win Best Picture
My favorite movie of this year was The Brutalist, and I am pretty sure it's going to win Best Picture. I'm not a member of the Academy, so I don't vote, but this feels like the kind of movie they like to reward.
It's an audacious and sweeping story that feels like a throwback. It's over three hours long, comes with an intermission, and spans many decades.
There's also an important story about immigration at its center and about how the elites treat those without money.
Aside from my opinion, the film has received positive reviews from critics, praising its direction, acting (especially Adrien Brody's performance), and its complex themes.
The movie has been picking up some critics awards but it also won the Golden Globe for Best Drama and Best Director (along with Best Actor).
That's usually also an indicator of what could be taking home the coveted golden statue.
Obviously, this is just my opinion. It's hard to know what will win, and there's buzz around many of these films.
But my heart lies with The Brutalist.
Let me know what you think in the comments.
