Improve Your Shooting Stability With Sony’s New Wireless Shooting Grip and Detachable Remote
A look at the Sony GP-VPT3 Wireless Shooting Grip with Detachable Remote and how it can be used to support your handheld shooting.

Sony GP-VPT3 Wireless Shooting Grip
When it comes to video, specifically handheld and run-and-gun video, the name of the game is stability. Sure, there have been major improvements in IBIS technology over the years, but if you’re running around too herky-jerky, your footage is going to suffer.
That’s why it’s cool to see companies like Sony release proprietary technology to help out with their cameras with this new three-in-one wireless shooting grip with a detachable remote commander.
Featuring Bluetooth wireless technology compatible with Alpha Series and Vlog Camera Series Sony cameras, this GP-VPT3 Multi-Function Shooting Grip will be able to support stable handheld shooting with a grip design optimized for ease of use and flexible shooting angles, accommodating cameras weighing up to 1.5 kgs.
The grip can also be used as a tripod and, with the remote commander, can also be detached and used as a remote control. Let’s take a look at the Sony GP-VPT3 Wireless Shooting Grip with Detachable Remote and explore what it could offer for your Sony systems and workflows.
Sony GP-VPT3 Wireless Shooting Grip with Detachable Remote
Designed to help improve shooting stability and versatility, the Sony GP-VPT3 Wireless Shooting Grip with Detachable Remote should be a convenient tool that allows users wireless control in both configurations as a larger grip for handheld shooting as well as a sleek tabletop tripod.
Compatible with select Sony cameras featuring Bluetooth connectivity, this grip offers wireless control via a detachable remote with a built-in shutter release and video record buttons, a zoom and focus control button, a zoom and focus lock button, and customizable C1 and AF ON/OFF buttons.
Beyond serving as just an accessory grip, it has three legs that extend to allow use as a tripod for hands-free shooting. The integrated head can tilt upward 80° (40° when set as a tripod), downward 90°, and rotate 360° for easier positioning. Additionally, the grip is dust and moisture-resistant to suit its use with select weather-sealed cameras.

The GP-VPT3 Multi-Function shooting grip will be available in June 2025 for approximately USD 159.99 and CAD 219.99, and the RMT-VP2 Wireless Remote Commander for approximately USD 89.99 and CAD 124.99. You can check out the full specs and purchase options below.
