With DJI in Limbo, Could This Osmo-Like Gimbal Camera Be the Next Best Thing?
The Xtra Muse gimbal action camera is on sale for under $400, and for US customers losing out on options due to the FCC’s DJI ban, it is actually a sneaky way to get a DJI-esque product.

Xtra Muse
As we’ve been covering all year, but with recent fervor over the past few weeks, the DJI drone ban has been a major news story that hasn’t let up.
It has also become more than just a drone story, as the effective ban implemented by the FCC now extends beyond drones and is affecting all types of DJI products, like camera gimbals.
Yet, as many have pointed out since its release, the Xtra Muse is basically just a DJI Osmo Pocket 3. It’s a dicey game, but one that interested content creators in the United States might simply have to play if they want to keep up.
The Xtra Muse is also on sale and looks like a pretty good deal, too.
The Xtra Muse
Developed by a company called Xtra Technology, which, in an article from The Verge, is described by Bluesky user Konrad Iturbe as a “very brazen attempt” by DJI to keep up its “foothold in the US market,” the Xtra Muse appears to be just that.
Basically, the DJI Osmo Pocket 3, the Xtra Muse functions as a 3-axis gimbal stabilizer built into the body of an action camera, tailored for high-quality social media content. It can record in vertical or horizontal orientations without needing to reconfigure its setup, and is powered by a 1" CMOS sensor that captures up to UHD 4K60 video and 9.4MP photos.
It also features an internal battery that can keep the camera running for 161 minutes. And it excels in low light, with a dedicated low-light mode that can be toggled on in the touchscreen to deliver 4K30 footage with less noise and more detail.
Price and Availability
While not a new product, the Xtra Muse is worth another look today, as the DJI ban still appears unlikely to go anywhere soon, and it is clearly stretching into non-drone products for the company. The Xtra Muse is also on sale, with a pretty nice discount, currently available for $120 off at B&H.
