One of my favorite screenings from this year’s SXSW Film & TV Festival, Erupcja is the latest film from director Pete Ohs, who has been a frequent guest on the No Film School podcast.

Starring Charli XCX alongside Will Madden, Jeremy O. Harris, and Lena Góra, the film tells the story of new and unrequited romances set against the backdrop of Warsaw, Poland.

As he has done in the past, Ohs has been pretty much an open book about his editing process, in particular, and for this film, he’s opted to share a bunch of raw clips from the project online for people to “make stuff.”

Check out the clips below and some fun videos Ohs has put together to get the collaborations started.

Scenes from Erupcja

Shared by Ohs online, his stated goal for making these raw clips available is to “pull back the curtain and de-mystify things.” The film Erupcja was very much a collaborative process, as the main cast all share writing credits, and Ohs has talked about his open-style filmmaking in the past.

Another notable quirk of Ohs filmmaking process, as shared in our SXSW Filmmaker’s Survey, is that the film (like Ohs previous projects) was shot on a Canon 5D Mark II camera that is running the Magic Lantern hack to record in 4K, another great example of how filmmaking doesn’t require inhibitively expensive cameras or gear to tell meaningful and resonating stories.

Download Clips and Share Edits

Along with sharing the raw clips below, Ohs has also encouraged anyone interested in filmmaking or video editing to try editing scenes together themselves. He shared a short video of his editing process in action as well as linked to other clips and scenes from the film, which you can check out on Moonbeam here.

If this sounds like a fun challenge or a way to try your hand at editing scenes yourself, you can dive into the raw clips from the film here on Dropbox.
