With DJI still on the sidelines in the US, companies like Insta360 are continuing to fill the void by releasing new gimbal cameras and other products that could appeal to content creators looking for these types of multi-purpose cameras.
The Insta360 Luna Ultra, already a popular option for creators, is getting a major boost with its latest firmware update (version 1.1.8), which will add new zoom capabilities, support for 4K vertical video, and other new shooting modes.

The big news is the added zoom and recording features coming to the Luna Ultra, as this firmware update will unlock support for up to 15x zoom for both photo and video use. The gimbal camera’s zoom capabilities can be boosted even further with its super-telephoto lens, which adds 1.5x optical zoom and can now enable up to 22.5x zoom when attached.
The Luna Ultra is also getting a new AI-enhanced Stage Mode, tailored for those looking to record footage of artists at concerts. Again, maybe not a major feature for pro videographers, but a nice one for concertgoers or fans.
The other big news here is that the Luna Ultra will now support 4K 30p vertical video, which is recorded by oversampling from 6K, so creators should be able to more easily and quickly record video for their favorite vertical-format social video apps.
