Citing the company’s commitment to keeping the technology in your cameras on the cutting edge, OM System—like all of the other major camera manufacturers these days—offers regular and robust firmware updates as a way to help shooters protect their investments.

The big updates here all have to do with stability and reliability. However, a few cameras (like the OM-1) will be getting some new autofocus features, and all will include your usual mix of minor bug fixes and performance improvements.

OM-1 Mark II Version 1.3

  • Stability of touch panel operation during playback was improved.

OM-1 Version 1.7

  • Enhanced All-Target Mode Autofocus: Improvement in AF performance with All-Target Mode in S-AF and C-AF. Optimized tuning of the focus position when the AF area is set to all targets.
  • Improved Menu Operation: The erase/trash button can now be used as a menu access shortcut, allowing for easier operation with the right hand.

OM-3 Version 1.1

  • Stability of touch panel operation during playback was improved.

OM-5 Version 1.2

  • Improve stability of some functions.

OM-D E-M1X (E-M1X Version 2.0 through 2.4)

  • AF operation when a M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 90mm F3.5 Macro IS PRO lens is attached has been optimized.
  • Bird detection AF has been added to Intelligent Subject Detection AF.
  • RAW video output to external equipment is now supported.
