If you’ve used a Sony camera in the past few years, you might have tried out the Creators’ Cloud and the different tools built into the company’s suite of shooting, production, and sharing services.

One of the better tools has been Catalyst Prepare, which provides PC applications for fast, precise correction and editing, leveraging your camera logs and metadata. This tool, which is also available as a plugin for Adobe Premiere and DaVinci Resolve, has just gotten a notable update that adds some features worth checking out.

Sony Catalyst Prepare Update

So, the most notable news here is that Catalyst Prepare is getting a new sound separation function that will help users isolate, remove, and/or improve the audio you want (like dialogue or a subject speaking) while taking out unwanted audio (like wind noise or other interference).

The update (version 2025.3) also adds new features, functions, and improvements to Catalyst Browse/Prepare and the Catalyst Prepare Plugin (v2.2). Here’s the full list of updates:

    • Sound separation function was added.*

    • Added support for displaying Shooting Information.
