Think You Can Light a Scene With One Hand? This NANLITE Wand Thinks You Can
A look at the NANLITE wand, a lightweight and easy-to-use RGBW wand light that can enable up to 36,000 colors.

NANLITE wand
In what might give new meaning to a “one-hander”, the NANLITE wand is a clever new RGB LED light that promises to pack quite a lighting punch in a very lightweight and easy-to-use form factor. But will serious filmmakers or video pros ever find a need for such a unique light?
Let’s explore what the NANLITE wand has to offer and what you might be able to get out of its relatively cheap and easy investment.
Introducing the NANLITE wand
Designed to provide creative lighting options with full color capabilities, the NANLITE wand is a 1.6’ wand RGB LED light that is powered by a RWBW Nebula C4 engine. This enables the wand to offer up to 36,000 colors in HSI mode and a variable CCT from 2700 to 7500K with +/-150 green-to-magenta tint adjustment.
The light has multiple power and control options and is compatible with external USB-C PD 3.0 chargers and power banks. It can also run on a separately available NP-F battery that can be placed right on the light body.
The Wand includes a removable diffuser for a soft, flattering quality of light, as well as detachable barndoors for further beam and spill control. Nanlite also supplies a carry bag that adds to the wand's 0.93 lb highly portable body.
Can it Light Your Scenes?
NANLITE is banking on the wand’s powers to be enough for all types of projects as it can create bright lighting anywhere with up to 4020 lux at 3.3' (5600K) and a high CRI/TLCI rating of 95/93, indicating accuracy in color rendering.
Plus, a convenient handheld design makes it ideal for light painting and other forms of creative lighting, suitable for various types of photo and video setups—in a studio or on the go. The wand also lets users dial in brightness from 0 to 100% by 1% increments, while you can set the color temperature from warm to cold (2700 to 7500K), or find up to 36,000 different colors, 14 creative effects, and eight group effects.
Choose from various colorful effects to easily achieve impressive lighting simulations and results. The effects include hue loop, CCT flash, hue flash, CCT pulse, hue pulse, storm, police car, TV, and more.
Users can also quickly and easily swap batteries during longer shoots. And its compact body is great for use in tight spaces, and its lightweight design ensures the wand can be comfortably held in just one hand.
