Honestly, more companies should do this. 7Artisans, the Chinese lens manufacturer best known for its diverse array of affordable lenses, is holding a contest on its social media accounts where the company is inviting its fans to try to guess what its next new lens is going to be.

The company has shared a few clues along with a mysterious silhouette that might give you some ideas. However, it’s also just fun to see what people in the comments are guessing or clamoring for. We have our own thoughts, but we’re curious to hear yours as well, and encourage you to check it out.

7Artisans Mystery Lens Content

Shared on the company’s Instagram page, as you can see below, 7Artisans has a new lens to preview. Shown only in a mysterious silhouette, the company has shared the following clues to consider.

  • Clue 1: Large aperture for stunning bokeh
  • Clue 2: Portrait focal length for beautiful detail
  • Clue 3: Precision focus, total creative control

The responses, so far, appear to be locking in on anything from a new 50mm to an 85mm (or in that range) and possibly an f/1.2 or f/1.4. However, there’s a lot of diversity of opinion, so you never know.
