Sadly, despite (or perhaps because of) all of the latest advancements in camera technology, overheating is still an issue from time to time. To be fair, it is still quite rare compared to the early days of DSLRs and the myriad of tricks out there to overcrank your cameras to get the highest recording specs possible.

But overheating does still happen. If you’ve been using a Panasonic S Series camera like the S1RII, the S1II, or the S1IIE and had some issues with overheating in a few specific recording modes, then these firmware updates are highly worth downloading and installing as soon as possible.

Let’s look at a few firmware updates just released for these Panasonic LUMIX full-frame cameras and share how to get them downloaded and installed in your cameras today.


Panasonic LUMIX S Series Firmware Updates

Again, while not a major issue, it does sound like Panasonic is trying to nip any minor concerns in the bud before they get any worse. Panasonic has announced new firmware updates for the LUMIX S1RII, the S1II, and the S1IIE, which will offer improved heat management, which should help allow for longer (more sustainable) maximum video recording times.

The updates are also set to add a new MP4 low-bitrate 3.8K open gate recording mode, LUMIX Flow 1.4 support, improved autofocus, false color, and ISO display features.
