Viltrox DC-A1 7" HDMI 2.0 High-Bright Monitor
While many might argue that we’re living in the golden age of cameras, or the dawning of the age of AI, just based on the amount of innovation, competition, and great prices available, you could also contend that we’re living in the age of the high-bright production monitor.
With so many HDMI monitors available for shooters and cinematographers of all types looking to keep an eye on their images and compositions, it’s never a surprise to see more options hit the market in this space.
Following up on the success of previous DC-L1 and DC-L2 models, Viltrox is back with a new DC-A1 7-inch HDMI high-bright monitor that looks to be the company’s best yet, while still maintaining a sub-$300 price point. Let’s check it out.
The Viltrox DC-A1 7" HDMI 2.0 High-Bright Monitor
Designed to be a lightweight option to let filmmakers and content creators review their camera’s image on an ultrabright, sharp 7" display, the Viltrox DC-A1 can support up to DCI/UHD 4K60 via HDMI video input. It can send the signal to another display through an HDMI loop-through output.
This new model also features multiple image tools such as histogram and waveform, and its high 2800 cd/m² brightness makes it suitable for outdoor use in bright sunlight. Also, thanks to its 1920 x 1080 display that supports live view from your camera, shooters can monitor the audio via its built-in speaker or 3.5mm headphone jack.
At the rear of the monitor, a built-in L-series battery plate will enable users to power the monitor with the L-series battery, or shooters can power it with a separately available DC barrel or USB-C adapter. The camera is also mountable onto a cage, camera, or rig using the included tilt/swivel shoe adapter mount. A quick-release sun hood is available to protect the monitor from glare.
A New Ultrabright Display Option
What’s great about this Viltrox DC-A1 7" HDMI 2.0 High-Bright Monitor is that its 1920 x 1080 resolution will be visible, even in direct sunlight, with its 2800 cd/m² brightness.
The monitor also features smooth, finger-tip operation with a responsive UI and full touchscreen. You can also quickly access key functions via a knob and custom programmable buttons.
Built into the firmware, the monitor is also set to feature multiple pro monitoring tools, including focus peaking, zebras, and waveform. The tools allow you to preview and adjust footage with precise visual control. The monitor also features multiple built-in LUTs, and you can also load custom 3D LUTs using the USB-A port.
